Well, he isn't really "under" the glass . . . he has been etched into it. That is a microscope slide that I wrapped Sculpey clay around and use Pearl Ex to highlight. Background is another Pearl Ex wash using a big blender brush with Dove blender solution in the resevoir.

This glass etching is really a beautiful technique! I've got to learn it!!! You rock Colleen (but then I've known that for a long time from other stamping lists that you are on) Thanks for sharing!
I explained how to do the glass etching at when I posted one of my other glass etched projects located here: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I mounted the glass etched slide on Night of Navy card stock using Crystal Effects (be sure you get all the air bubbles out right away or you will see them after it dries.)
As far as the Sculpey goes . . . I used my pasta machine to create a flat, even thickness rectangle shaped piece that could be used to wrap around the microscope slide. I just used my fingers to create the 'dips and valleys' around it as I pinched to seal it to the slide. Then used a brush to apply Pearl Ex (dry). I then used my toaster oven to bake the sculpey.
The background I created by using a wide tip bottle brush which is similar to our AquaPainter except MUCH bigger. I fill the chamber with Dove Blender and use that to paint on the Pearl Ex colors. They go on sort of as a watercolor paint would.
This is a VERY easy card to do. Probably less time in this than one that has tons of layers and extra foo-foo. Give it a try.
